Shortly after being born in Pavia, Lombardia in 1966, Mario’s family moved to Toscana and the rest is history! Mario began amassing experience at the age of 14 when he entered a famous Italian culinary school.

While he has always transmitted his passion for food, Italy, and people – he has remained open to expanding his creativity. This attitude underlies his diverse experiences ranging from top positions in Michelin star restaurants in France to one of America’s top houses, and Iron Chef in Japan. Mario has conceptualized some of Tokyo’s most prolific restaurants, but it is the 2008 opening of the Mario owned “i sentieri” that marks the concretization of his experiences which he dedicates to you.

The feeling:
Baldesar Castiglione, a protagonist of the Italian Renaissance wrote: “I have discovered a universal rule which seems to apply more than any other in all human actions or words: namely, to steer away from affectation at all costs, and to practice in all things a certain nonchalance which conceals all artistry and makes whatever one says or does seem naturally effortless. I am sure that grace springs especially from this.” Castiglione coined this “rule” sprezzatura and it is exactly what Mario endeavors to achieve. Why this focus? By definition, a fine dining experience should effortlessly unfold so that all senses are free to savor the moment. That is why Mario consulted with a world renown design company to layout Mario i sentieri, installed a top of the line sound system which he selects the music for, and has kept his Team together.

Private Parties & Catering:
During Mario’s twenty years in Japan he has catered to some of the most prestigious organizations in the world as well as for families who want to ensure that everything is just right so that they can focus on the people that make the party a party.

About the staff:
The staff that joined Mario for the opening of Mario i sentieri are his trusted colleagues having worked with him for many years. They identify with the restaurant’s concept and especially with Mario’s personality.
